Housing Programs - For individuals and families recovering from mental illness or substance use

Licensed Residential Care, Supported Housing, and Independent Living programs for individuals recovering from mental illness and/or substance use.
Island Community Mental Health offers three types of housing:
  • Licensed Residential Care for individuals who require 24-hour support and supervision while recovering from mental illness or substance use disorders. The Licensed Care facilities provide meals, medication support, and staffing 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

  • There are three Licensed Residential Care facilities offered:

McCauley Lodge is a 30-bed licensed care facility for individuals experiencing a mental health issues. Individuals must be 19 years of age or older and referred through the Centralized Access to Supported Housing committee through the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health).

Greenridge Place and Eagle Rock Heights are licensed care facilities for young adults (aged 19-30) recovering from a mental illness, substance abuse, or both. Referrals are made in conjunction with the applicants’ case manager and psychiatrist through the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health)

  • Supported Housing for individuals who are able to live independently but still require regular support to maintain their tenancy and support their ongoing recovery. Individuals in Supported Housing work with a Housing Coach. Because of the level of services provided, referrals for Supported Housing are made through Island Health’s Centralized Access to Supported Housing (CASH) committee

  • Independent Housing for individuals and families. Island Community Mental Health offers a variety of bachelor, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, three-bedroom, and townhouses. There are no supports or services provided to individuals in this independent housing. Some units have a subsidy available through BC Housing, while others have rent determined by income, and still, others are rented at market rates. To apply to independent housing, complete the application form below. Please be aware that the wait for independent housing is approximately two years
