Child Services, Family / Parenting, Pregnancy Care, and Public Health

Provided by Quadra Village Community Centre

Various programs for children and families in Victoria, including outreach for the community.

The following programs are offered:

Best Babies: A free pre- and post-natal program, in cooperation with Victoria Best Babies and Island Health, that aims to optimize nutrition and health in expectant and new parents. Offers one to one support, dietician, public health nurse and dental hygienist services in a safe and confidential setting. Meets weekly on Tuesdays 11:00am - 1:00pm. Registration required.
Playgroup: Children 6months-5yrs. and their adults can play and learn in a relaxed social setting with arts and crafts, toys, books, puzzles and more. Monday's Playgroup 10:00am - 12:00pm, includes breakfast from 10-11:30am. Thursday's Playgroup 10:00am-11:30am, with the option of participating in Messy Hands activities.
Kindergym: For tots ages 1 year - 5 years to build their large motor skills and improve coordination. It is recommended that children are steady on their feet to attend this active program. Snacks are provided. Drop-in weekly on Wednesdays 10:00am - 12:00pm.
Parent-Child Mother Goose: For female identifying caregivers and children 0 - 5years. This program introduces adults and children to the pleasure and power of using rhymes, songs, and stories together. Adults gain skills and confidence which can enable them to create positive family patterns during their children’s crucial early years. Children benefit from enjoyable, healthy early experiences with language and communication. Snacks provided. Meets weekly on Fridays 10:00am - 10:30am for ages 0 - 2 years and at 12:00pm for ages 2 - 5 years. Registration required.
Child, Youth & Family Outreach: The Youth & Family Outreach Worker offers support, mentoring, advocacy, goal setting, life skills, mediation, safety planning and referrals for youth ages 12-18 and their parents, in the Hillside-Quadra and nearby neighbourhoods.
