Veterans Homelessness Program

Provided by John Howard Society of Victoria

Serves veterans who are currently experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of homelessness.
The Veterans Homelessness Program provides comprehensive support to veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness, with a strong focus on mental health and medical care. The program focuses on individualized support services to help improve integration and connectedness to support structures, such as housing attainment, rental assistance, basic needs and counselling/treatment. They offer one-to-one navigation support and access to a part-time in-house counsellor with the goal of supporting veterans in rebuilding their lives by connecting them with essential healthcare resources and personalized support to address their unique needs.

Currently no referral form is required and clients can self-refer.

Eligibility:
  • Be a veteran (former members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) (including Rangers and reservists) or the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)), and
  • Be at risk of or currently experiencing homelessness (this will be self-declared at the outset and client can start to receive support right away, but an informal income assessment, and a VAC status check will be done by the team's outreach worker to confirm eligibility).
