The program addresses cultural and spiritual care by reconnecting or helping people to connect for the first time to traditional, spiritual and cultural practices of wellness.
Indigenous Health Services aims to address the social determinants of health and challenges that indigenous individuals face. The program serves approximately 80 to 100 people a week through:
- Healing circles
- Singing Circles
- Monthly sweat lodge ceremonies
- Traditional dances
- Feasts
- Carving
- Drum-making workshops
- Honouring ceremonies and memorials for Indigenous people
- Access to Elders and traditional medicines
- Peer support
- Links to housing, nutrition and healthcare
- Community and on-reserve events and gatherings
- Access to elders and traditional medicines
- Bridging service that connects community members to needed resources
