Living in Families with Teens (LIFT)

LIFT is a program for parents and youth who are experiencing difficulties within the family relationship system
LIFT helps to explore family relationships, recognize strengths, understand teen behaviours, build confidence in parenting, develop strategies for managing conflict and stress and enhance family connections. LIFT also provides parent workshops and facilitates parent groups.

Program Features
  • Duration: 3-month program providing a range of therapeutic intervention(s) including individual, couple, family counseling, mediation, and youth support
  • Confidential counseling for parents & youth
  • Open community referral for youth 12-16 yrs old (For youth 17-18 yrs old by MCFD referral only)
  • Accepts referrals within the Lantzville, Nanaimo and Ladysmith area
  • Daytime and evening appointments available, in person or virtual (Monday to Friday)

Access to Program The LIFT program is an open community referral service. Parents/guardians & youth between the ages of 12-16 years old can contact the LIFT Office for an initial intake. For youth between the ages of 17 and 18, a referral may be made through MCFD only.
LIFT offers free community-based counselling for parents and youth experiencing difficulties in their family relationships. We support caregivers as they navigate parenting through the teen years. We work together to explore family relationships, recognize strengths, understand teen behaviors, build confidence in parenting, develop strategies for managing conflict and stress and to enhance family connections. LIFT also provides parent workshops and facilitates parent groups. For caregivers of youth 12 – 18 years living in the Ladysmith, Nanaimo school district.
