Volunteers provide support, leisure and educational services to seniors 65 years of age and older living in the City of Victoria.
Capital City Volunteers provide support to low-income seniors ($35,000 or less for an individual, $45,000 or less for a couple) age 65+ to live independently in their own home. Services include:
  • Outreach: Outreach workers provide information about resources in the City of Victoria, provide information about programs operating out of James Bay Community Project, link and refer seniors to the right programs.

  • Volunteer Delivered Services: CCV has a roster of dedicated volunteers who can assist with tasks including in-home friendly visits, walking, light gardening, reading and writing assistance, computer support, income tax preparation, organizing assistance, minor home repairs, dog walking, medical and errand transportation

  • Light House Keeping Services: The Better at Home Light House Keeping Program supports seniors 65+ in the municipality of Victoria and Oak Bay to remain living independently at home. This program offers two hours of service once a month. Cleaning services include full clean of bathroom, basic clean of kitchen, changing bed linens, garbage and recycling, vacuuming and/or cleaning of the floors throughout the home.
To be connected with the services offered by Capital City Volunteers, prospective participants must adhere to the intake process and agree to a home visit to be assessed for services. Seniors may self-refer. To make a referral for someone living anywhere in the Municipality of Victoria (other than James Bay), please fill out this referral form.
