Counselling - For Children and Families Who Have Experienced Loss

Provided by The Charlene Reaveley Children’s Charity

Counselling for children and families after children have experienced the less of a family member.
The Charlene Reaveley Children’s Charity offers 100% funded counselling sessions for both children and their immediate family members after children have experienced the loss of an immediate family member.

CRCCS works alongside counsellors who specialize in supporting both children and adults through the grieving process. Clients are not limited to seeing these counsellors. If you are located outside the tri-cities area, already seeing a counsellor, or request a counsellor specialized in specific areas, funding will still be approved. Counselling sessions are funded for clients seeing a new counsellor or continuing sessions with an existing counsellor. The criteria for counselling remains with services rendered by a health professional with a regulatory body . These include, but not exclusive to; registered social workers (RSW), psychologists (Ph.D. and/or, R.Psych), psychiatrists (R.Psych), and certified counsellors (RCC).

Upon review and acceptance of the charities criteria, up to ten 100% funded one-hour individual counselling sessions can be arranged. Payment of the counselling sessions are arranged with CRCCS and the therapist’s office. No payment is required on behalf of the client. A contract is required and approved by CRCCS before sessions can commence. Unfortunately, they are unable to provide payment for backdated sessions.

Where possible, virtual services for clients is an option and covered by the Charlene Reaveley Children’s Charity.

As a children’s charity, CRCCS supports children and their immediate family members. The criteria for funded counselling is:
  • Death of an immediate family member
  • All immediate family members are approved (parent/guardian and/or sibling)
  • Client resides in British Columbia
  • Counsellor is registered in British Columbia (proof of certification required)
  • Client application completed accompanied by a copy of the death certificate
