CRD Perinatal Counselling Program
Mental Health - Adult & Senior and Pregnancy Care

The CRD Perinatal Counselling Program provides counselling to parents and expecting parents who are experiencing a clinical depression, anxiety or a mental health adjustment disorder within 9 months of giving birth, or during the pregnancy. It is for people who have not already received counselling in the current perinatal period, and who do not have extended health insurance to get clinical counselling.
Clients must be referred to the program using the program referral form. A referral can only be made by one of the following primary health care providers in the Capital Regional District:
- physicians
- midwives
- naturopaths
- nurse practitioners
- psychiatrists
What services are not provided by the program?:
- Common conditions such as postpartum blues.
- Emergency mental health services such as postpartum psychosis.
- Counselling on decisions respecting an unplanned pregnancy or complex pregnancy.
Referral Details: A referral is required to access this program. Fill out the referral form, after which an Intake Specialist will confirm eligibility, contact your patient by phone, and book a counselling session
