Counselling for Immigrants and Refugees

Provides mental health counselling to immigrants and refugees living in Canada.
VICCIR provides mental health counselling to immigrants and refugees of all ages living on Vancouver Island.

The service:
  • Reduces the debilitating symptoms of trauma;
  • Increases the personal resiliency and self-mastery required to improve their quality of life; and
  • Helps them find within themselves an eagerness to participate in the communities that welcome each of them.
Counselling fees
  • VICCIR charges fees to help cover its operating costs. The fee structure is designed to provide affordability and remove barriers to accessing their services.
  • Fees for services are discussed on a case-by-case basis, depending on the needs and circumstances of the individual and the family.
  • Refugee clients who meet the IFHP (Interim Federal Health Program) requirements receive services at no cost during the first year of settlement.
  • Please note that the fees for services are waived for some clients who match their grant requirements.
  • Fees are discussed with clients upon initial contact. Higher rates may apply for couples and family therapy sessions.
