Information and Support For Individuals With Disabilities

Provided by Victoria Disability Resource Centre (VDRC)

Provides employment, volunteer, and skill development support to individuals with a disability.
The following programs are offered:
  • Volunteer Skills Development: This program offers real-life work experiences to volunteers, helping them develop valuable office and customer service skills. It's an opportunity to gain practical experience while contributing to the community.
  • Accessible Parking Placard: Parking Permits for Persons with Disabilities (also known as accessible parking permits or simply “parking placards”) allow the permit holder to park in designated accessible parking spots. We offer them for both motor vehicles and motorcycles, with the same process and price for both.
  • Disability Inclusion and Awareness Training (DIAT): Also known as Anti-Ableism Training, DIAT provides customized training aimed at fostering inclusive environments within businesses and organizations.
  • Lived Experiences Around Disability (LEAD): LEAD aims to educate youth about disabilities through presentations in schools, where presenters share their personal experiences and engage in interactive activities.
  • Computer Access & Assistive Technology: They offer the free use of three public computers and a printer, as well as a number of Assistive Technology (AT) software programs and devices, to people with disabilities.
  • Information & Referral: This service helps individuals find information about disability-related supports and programs both locally and provincially. They offer guidance on how to access various governmental and non-governmental services, such as disability benefits, housing resources, and mental health services.
