Connections Place - Clubhouse for Members with Mental Illness
Education, Employment, Food, Mental Health - Adult & Senior, and Social / Recreational
Provided by Connections Place
Employment: The clubhouse offers three levels of employment support: Independent, Supported, and Transitional. We work collaboratively with members to facilitate their individual goals of finding meaningful employment. Click here for more information.
The Business and Career Unit provides members opportunities to develop skills in a range of areas, including reception, membership administration, outreach, and communications.
Education: Assist members in finding educational paths that nurture their individual goals and is compatible with their learning style. The clubhouse offers a safe space with internet access where members may work on their assignments and attend virtual classes and seminars. Members can also request support with academic applications, course and program selection, and connection to further educational resources. Click here for more information.
Social Activities: Social connection and peer support are a pillar of Psychosocial Rehabilitation, and creating space to have fun is an important part of supporting the Work-Ordered Day by supporting relational development outside of the 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM day.
Social recreation programming is offered two weeknights per week and twice a month on Saturdays.
- Saturday Socials: run from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM and require advance sign-up.
- Tuesday Socials: take place from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and Thursday Socials are held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
The clubhouse operates on reduced hours during statutory holidays, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Advance sign-up is required for lunch on these days.
Food Services: This unit is a great place to use skills or develop new skills in a low-risk and supportive environment full of kind and caring people. Members can build their confidence, feelings of self-efficacy, and take ownership over what they make, knowing that they’re contributing to healthier, happier lives for their colleagues. Working in the Kitchen Unit, people can access food education by being involved in meal preparation, can combat food insecurity through subsidized meals and drinks, and learn how to budget for personal grocery shopping.
Wellness: Offer daily meditation and wellness walks during lunch hour to further promote mental wellness. The clubhouse actively encourages being active and eating healthy meals, which is an important part of wellness.
