BC Reproductive Mental Health Program

Provided by BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre (BCWH)

Provide care to women and their families who are dealing with mental health challenges or disorders and emotional difficulties related to the reproductive life cycle.
This program provides the following services:
  • Assessment and treatment of people with mental health disorders who are pregnant and have given birth.
  • Pre-pregnancy consultation for people with psychiatric illness who are thinking about pregnancy and want advice about management of their illness before, during, and after pregnancy and birth.
  • Group educational sessions about premenstrual syndrome (PMS) or premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).
Services for patients may include the following: - Help from a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals including psychiatrists, counsellors, social workers, and dietitians. - Individual, couples or group psychotherapy - Access to health information and other programs for patients, their partners and families

Referral from a doctor, nurse practitioner or midwife is required

  • Emotional Regulation and Anger Management
  • Adjustment to Motherhood with Self-Compassion
  • Circle of Security Parenting Program
  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Partners
  • Premenstrual Syndrome or Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder Workshop Please note that to participate in any of the groups patients must be referred to the Reproductive Mental Health Program.

Entrance 81 of the Mental Health Building. There is pay parking on site. Hours of operation: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
