Health and Wellness Services - Victoria

Various health services to improve the wellness of residents.
The following services are offered:
  • Blood Pressure Clinic: Blood pressure checks. Offered on the Second and Fourth Thursday of each month from 9:00 - 10:30 AM. This service is free and is offered on a first come and first served basis.
  • Foot Care Nurse: A qualified foot nurse, offers 30-minute appointments, providing foot assessments, corn and callus removal, nail trimming, care of ingrown nails, relaxing foot rub. Contact reception to book an appointment. Appointments are available on Mondays between 10am and 11:30am. Fee of $40.
  • Nexgen Hearing: Offers a complimentary hearing clinic test.
  • Ageless Yoga: Pranayama, or breath class. Restorative, calming poses first, to build breath control. Beginner level only. Offered on Mondays from 1pm-2pm for $2.
  • Postural Stretching: This class is ideal for people feeling stiff, and suffering with chronic aches and pains. The instructor focuses on strengthening key postural muscles while stretching all the main muscle groups. Offered Fridays 10:30-11:30 AM for $2.
  • Walking Group: This is a group of individuals who like to get out in the company of others and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. All walks are held around Greater Victoria and vary from week to week. The terrain may be hilly, and participants should wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Walks can vary in length as we go at a comfortable (not strolling) pace. No pre-registration is required. Offered Mondays at 10 am for free.
  • 50+ Strength and Stretch: Learn how to strengthen your muscles safely and effectively with a variety of strength training equipment. Provided on Wednesdays from 10:30 am to 11:30am and Fridays from 9:45 am to 10:45 am for $6.
  • Zumba Gold: Modified moves and pacing to suit the needs of the active older adult, or those just starting a journey to a fit and healthy life. The class is based on the principal that a workout should be fun and easy to do. Offered on Wednesdays from 9:30 – 10:30 AM for $6.
  • Active Seniors Enjoying Life (ASEL): Provides low-impact chair exercises for seniors. Offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 11am for $2.
  • Leisure Involvement for Everyone: A program which allows low-income individuals and families in the Greater Victoria area to participate in recreational programs and services at little or no cost. Fill out an application form at the centre.
