VIRL presents and hosts a series of free programs for all members of the communities to learn and connect.
The Vancouver Island Regional Library offers various programs throughout the Island for families, tweens and teens, seniors, children and adults. While programs may be similar between branches, each location has their own programming suited to the local community, such as:
  • Scavenger hunts and TT Games,
  • Arts and crafts,
  • Social activism,
  • Storytime and Rhyme Time,
  • Book review events,
  • Playrooms and LEGO,
  • Emergency preparedness,
  • Tech days,
  • Conversation circles,
  • Indigenous Circles,
  • Hosting wellness and Better At Home sessions,
  • Family fun time and play days,
  • Author events and readings,
  • And so much more!

Each Vancouver Island Regional Library branch will have individual features such as public computers and washrooms, free WIFI, printing and photocopying, meeting rooms, in addition to books and newspapers to borrow. Be sure to look into what each branch offers - you may be surprised by a seed bank, fireplace or a laptop bar! Be sure to inquire with library staff if you require accessibility aids such as DAISY Readers, Home Delivery Services, and Equitable Library Access and Service.
