Margaret Laurence House - Housing and Support for Women Fleeing Abuse

- The MLH residential program offers temporary accommodation for up to one year in 6 townhouse units in a confidential location with the opportunity to access support while making plans for the future. Support available includes advocacy and referrals, individual counselling, and group support structured around topics chosen by residents.
- The MLH outreach program provides support for women who are no longer living at MLH but may still need to access support and counselling. Women in the outreach program are provided with similar services to women living at MLH, but may also be offered assistance in locating safe and affordable housing.

- bus tickets for women to attend appointments and for their children to attend school
- birthday and Christmas gifts
- access to computer and internet for resident use
- lending library of educational books and dvd’s for resident use
- activities that help the MLH residents connect with the larger community
- speakers to come and present to the women on topics that they identify as important for them. In the recent past they have had speakers speak on Non-violent Communication, Budgeting, Internet Safety and Sexual Health.
