Provide services that serve, involve and advocate for the military community and their families and address the unique challenges of the military family lifestyle.
The MFRC provides various programs and services to help military personnel and families during their journeys from start to finish. The following services are offered:

MFRC Family Networks: Family Networks offer opportunities for families to connect with others who are navigating similar experiences. Participants can take part in social activities, receive updates related to their military family member’s deployment or work-related absence, and access helpful information and support. Families can register to join their local Family Network, receive resources from the MFRC in their region, and/or access support in French. Click here to register.

Deployment and Access Support: Resources and information prior to, during, and upon returning from deployment.

MFRC Family Wellness and Counselling Team:The Family Wellness and Counselling team includes a committed team of highly trained professionals, including Registered Social Workers and Counsellors. Team members understand the unique aspects of the military lifestyle and are committed to supporting families as they navigate experiences such as deployments and postings. Team offers:
  • Professional family supports addressing the unique aspects of the military lifestyle
  • Individual and family-focused short-term counselling sessions
  • Appropriate referrals linking military families to community, medical and educational organizations and resources
  • Individualized social work supports and counselling for transitioning CAF and veteran families

MFRC Emergency Family Plan: The MFRC may be able to provide limited assistance, such as access to daytime respite care (with specific set times during the weekday) Call the MFRC for more information on these options.

MFRC Extra Support Needs: The Esquimalt MFRC offers one-to-one support for Canadian Armed Forces families with a family member with extra needs. They work with clients to:
  • Support families in navigating the education, mental health, and health care systems
  • Advocate for services
  • Prepare for a posting in or out of Greater Victoria

MFRC Veteran Family Program: The Veteran Family Program is available to help with a family’s transition. The program extends the MFRC’s mandate to cover medically-released Canadian Armed Forces members, medically-released veterans and their families.
